Kathy from North Carolina

It has been a long arduous journey caring for my mom, Dorothy since my dad died in 2000. My mom has a degenerative genetic disorder that is slowly taking all her functions. She is 94 and can no longer walk but she is still very much mentally capable. In the beginning finding resources and help was nearly impossible. There was no clear roadmap. There was word of mouth, or accidentally coming across help. Slowly with research I found a local PACE day program that saved both of us. There is not nearly enough resources for those of us with aging parents that are aging ourselves and having to continue to work full time. Top that off with the myriad of agencies to go through. It is totally exhausting. Worth it but exhausting.
