Feanette from Washington
I was caring for my step father and mother. He passed and now I’m caring for my mom for the last 2 years without much help from siblings, and she needs constant care. It has been really hard on me and my husband. We uprooted our entire lives, moved away from our children and our grandchildren, and we don’t have much of a personal life at all. But I am still thankful for what I have and thankful that my mother is still with us. The hardest part of all though is that I lost my sister three years ago, and I miss her the most. She was my rock, and if she were here, I know that things would totally be different. She would definitely be here to help me with my mother. But small blessings seem to come along all the time. My daughter was able to come and stay with us for a while with my youngest grandson. He is almost 13, and boy, does he show it. But he is so helpful in helping take care of his great-grandma and it is wonderful that he gets the opportunity to know his great-grandma and learn about her life and not a lot of children get to experience that.
