Lori from Louisiana
I've been caring for my fiance, Terry, since October 22, 2018. He became I'll at home and was transported to a hospital 65 miles from home. He was there until December 22 at which time he was transferred to a nursing/rehab facility in our hometown. I was still with him daily, performing tasks like shaving him, keeping his face cleaned because I'd come in to find they hadn't even washed his face or hands after a meal. In June he was allowed to fall and suffered a broken hip. After the hip surgery at a hospital 30 miles south, we chose to move him to a different nursing facility. On July 1st. After making two weeks of fantastic progress with the therapies, he suffered a massive stroke, was in yet another hospital for 29 days, and yet another since August 5th. Social services is now helping us to locate another nursing facility that can and will meet his current needs, which include dialysis three times weekly. This move will be to another city, requiring a move for both of us... and me into an apartment to be closer.
