Bettie from Texas

My name is Bettie. I have been caring for Ms. Esther for about 5 years. I met Ms. Esther in my apartment leasing office. She was looking for an apartment because her house burned down and she had no place to live. I had a 2 bedroom and I asked her if she wanted to move in with me. She thought about it for a couple of days and decided to move in with me. That is how we first met. I do all of her shopping, take her to the doctor, clean, and prepare her breakfast. The biggest challenge is the first part of the month. I didn't have a car so I rode the bus to do everything. I just bought a car but I'm unable to drive it until I get a lot of things fixed on it. Her insurance pays me 14 hrs. a week but because I'm here 24/7, I don't get a break. Ms. Esther is always happy. She puts her makeup on everyday. She is an inspiration to me. I was going to move this year but Ms. Esther had nowhere to go except a nursing home. I don't think she will do well there. She will be 85 this Oct. 13.
