Norma from Illinois

My name is Norma Portillo. I care for my mother, Hilda. She is my best friend. It is my privilege to care for her now. She is the most giving person I have ever known. She gave so much to others. In past years she volunteered at church and in the community. She also took care of others including her own mother, brother, sister and even a neighbor who had no family. She is a breast cancer survivor herself. The cancer therapy had so many side effects. Some she continues to deal with. Her over all health has deteriorated significantly. But she never complains. Not even about the pain she lives with now. Pain medication doesn't always help. We live one day at a time. Although I am her caregiver, she gives so much more to me with her inspiration and love.
