Martha from North Carolina

My husband of 48 years, had two strokes and brain surgery between November 1983 (age 40) n October 1984 (age husband 41). He incurred brain damage that rendered him incapacitated. As such, he had to be cared for on a daily basis since. Our son was a great help until his death in 2011.

Now, I am his care provider without the support of family. We relocated from Pennsylvania 14 months ago to be near family, but it just didn't turn out the way I had hoped. I'm just getting nursing help through the VA after being placed on a waiting list for month's and my pastor's wife informed the congressman's office about our situation. My husband is 73 years old and I'm 66. I could use more help, but appreciate what we are getting. Thank you for allowing me to share my story.
