Debra from New Jersey

Debra cares for her mother with dementia. Debra says it’s very challenging to find her affordable care while she works. Her mother requires around the clock supervision, but she falls into the cracks in the system where she cannot get help to pay for care. By the time they pay for her care (5 days a week, 8 hours a day) there is no money left in her pension, and so Debra pays for all of her mother’s medications out of pocket. It has gotten to the point where her house is about to be foreclosed because most of her money is going to trying to keep her mother out of a nursing home.
