Hello there. My name is Betty. I took care of my husband William. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2005 and passed away in 2013. I have to say this is one of the cruelest diseases out there. Not only for their loved ones but also for them. I felt so sorry for him. In the beginning he felt as though he was going crazy. Like his mind was paying tricks on him. He started not recognizing me or the kids. They stopped coming around because it was hard for them to deal with. I felt as though I was being punished even though I tried to understand. Than he began to wander off and in the last stage he forgot how to eat. It broke my heart when I could no longer care for him on my own and I had to put him in the nursing home. He passed the following year.
