Teresa from Texas
My daughter, Kim, is 55 years old. She lives in San Angelo, Texas, about a 5 hour drive from us in Garland. I am 68 (Kim is my step-daughter) and my husband, Curtis, is 76. He has multiple sclerosis and is in a power wheel-chair. I am also disabled and ride an electric scooter. In Jan. 2018, I became suddenly ill and needed emergency surgery. This left Kim the only option for the care of my husband. She took Family Medical Leave but was not paid her salary the whole time she was here, which was 8 weeks, while I was hospitalized. She was very helpful - got him to his neurologist to start his new MS therapy, assisted in setting up home health, and worked on getting my husband equipment he needs.
If we didn't have Kim - what would have happened? If she can't come the next time we have a major crisis - what can we do?
